There are two primary ways to reach the island

Located only 31 km south of the capital island -Male’, Guraidhoo is a popular stop for day visitors looking for a relaxed Maldives experience. With winding roads of small old Maldivian style small houses, souvenir shops, cafés and friendly islanders relaxing in the shades of tropical trees, this laid-back little island spans less than a mile in length.

Getting to Guraidhoo

Situated in the South Malé Atoll, Guraidhoo is about 31 kilometers from Malé, the capital of the Maldives. There are two primary ways to reach the island:

Scheduled Speedboat Ferry
  • Travel Time: Approximately 40 minutes
  • Cost: Around USD 20 per person
  • Departure Point: Departs from Malé or the Airport, usually near the Bank of Ceylon o Convenience: The fastest and most convenient option, specially with luggage.
MTCC Province Ferry
  • Travel Time: Roughly 2.5 hours
  • Cost: About USD 6 per person, including the taxi fare from the airport to the ferry terminal o Route: Stops at Gulhi and Maafushi before reaching Guraidhoo

Visa Entry

The Maldives grants a visa-on-arrival for tourists from most countries. Upon arrival at Velana International Airport (Malé), you'll be issued a 30-day tourist visa at no cost.
Key requirements include:
  • Passport Validity: Your passport must be valid for at least 6 months from the date of entry. • Return Ticket: You may be required to show a return or onward flight ticket.
  • Proof of Accommodation: A confirmed booking for your stay in the Maldives is necessary. • Health Declaration: Travelers may need to complete a health declaration form within 24 hours before arrival, depending on current guidelines.

Getting Around The Island

Guraidhoo is a compact island that best explored on foot. Walking is the most practical and enjoyable way to experience the local culture. For those who prefer other modes of transportation, you have the option of renting out a bike or buggy.
