Guraidhoo Kandu is a protected marine area of South Male’ with 2 primary channels -Lhosfushi kandu and Guraidhoi Kandu, that holds many fascinating and exciting dive options. The channels are separated in the middle by Medhu Faru, a scenic drift dive frequented by sharks, barracudas and napoleons.

Lhosfushi kandu
Located north of Guraidhoo channel, Losfushi kandu invites you to explore a diverse underwater ecosystem. At visibility of 21 meters, and maximum depth of 24 meters, Lhosfushi kandu or Lhosfushi kuda kandu, is suitable for divers of different levels.
With an entrance 10 meters wide at the depth of 5 meters, the channel deepens inside to a sandy bottom. Expect encounters a curious array of marine life from thread fin butterflyfish and ribbon eels to big green turtles and white tip reef sharks.
Kandooma Thila
One of Maldives top dive sites- Kandooma Thila, also called Cocoa Thila is a stunning submerged pinnacle towering from the ocean floor of the channel, blooming in coral gardens, and overhangs. The depths range from 14-30 meters, the site’s clear waters offer excellent visibility inviting divers to fully explore the thriving marine life formations.

Kandooma thila was ranked world 10th place of shark diving in 2006-2009, so be ready to encounter an array of marine species from grey reef and white-tip sharks, eagle, whip, and marble rays, groupers, snappers, barracudas, and trevally’s thriving within the biodiversity of this pinnacle,
Emmadi Giri aka Manta Point
Emmadi Giri or popularly known as Manta point is in the channel of Lohifushi with a sandy bottom at 15–25-meter depth. At visibility of 15 meters and maximum depth 19 meters, the 50-meter-wide sand channel can be explored from both sides making it a mesmerizing marine experience. Except to meet a variety of friendly marine life with sweetlips, bannerfish, and of course mantas frequenting the dive point.
You can swim with majestic Manta Rays from May to October.
Medhu Faru
Medhu Faru, meaning middle reef in Maldives, is a scenic drift dive of wavering seafans and abundance of soft corals separating the 2 marine protected channels Lhosfushi kandu and Guraidhoi Kandu. A graduate drop-off leading down to a depth of 25 meters with visibility of 19 meters, this is a suitable for divers of different levels.
Coral blocks appear from 5-15-meters below, fusiliers animating in bursts of shapes and colors wave from the reef while white tip sharks, long fin banner fish, Napoleon wrasse and eagle rays glides by.
